About My Age

Enter a date of birth to see three ages at once: international age (the one most countries use), year age (current year minus birth year) and traditional Korean age, where you are 1 at birth and everyone gets a year older on January 1.

Since June 28, 2023 Korean law and government use international age, but year age is still used for things like military service and youth protection, so it helps to see all three.

You can also enter a lunar birthday, including leap months. Lunar dates are converted using the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute tables, and it shows when this year's lunar birthday falls on the solar calendar.

It also shows days lived, the next 1,000-day milestone, days until your next birthday, your Chinese zodiac animal (switching at Lunar New Year), star sign, birthstone and the weekday you were born. Your birthday stays in this browser and is never sent to the server.

What is Korean age?

In the traditional Korean system you are 1 year old at birth and everyone adds a year on January 1. So a baby born in December turns 2 a few days later. International age starts at 0 and goes up on each birthday.

I was born in January, why is my zodiac animal from the previous year?

The zodiac year changes at Lunar New Year, which falls in late January or February. If you were born before it, you belong to the previous year's animal.

Why does my lunar birthday move every year?

A lunar year is about 11 days shorter than a solar one, so the same lunar date lands on a different solar date each year. Enter your lunar birthday and it shows this year's solar date (lunar dates through 2050 are supported).
