Terms of Service

These terms set out the conditions for using Shimdesk (the “Service”) and what users and the operator each agree to.

The Service is free, and most widgets work without signing in. How we handle personal information is described separately in our Privacy Policy.

This English version is provided for convenience. If it differs from the Korean version, the Korean version prevails.

1. Purpose

These terms set the conditions and procedures for using the Service provided by the operator, and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of users and the operator.

2. Effect of these terms and acceptance

These terms take effect when posted on the Service (linked at the bottom of every page). By using the Service or signing in with a Google or Naver account, you agree to these terms.

The operator may change these terms to the extent permitted by law. Changes and their effective date will be announced on this page at least 7 days in advance, or at least 30 days in advance if the change is unfavorable to users. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.

3. What the Service provides

The Service gathers frequently used tools, such as weather, clock, stock indices, news, notes, to-dos and calendar, into widgets on a single screen. The operator may add or change widgets and their features.

When you sign in, your widget layout and the content you save are kept in your account so you see the same things on every device. The calendar and to-do widgets work only if you connect a Google account and grant permission.

4. Accounts

The Service has no separate registration; you sign in with a Google or Naver account. You are responsible for your sign-in account and must not sign in with someone else’s account.

You can delete your account at any time on the account page. Deleting your account permanently erases the account and everything saved in it, and this cannot be undone.

5. Your content

Content you save in the Service, such as notes, to-dos and bookmarks, belongs to you. The operator uses it only to provide the Service (storing, displaying and syncing it) and does not look at it or use it for any other purpose.

We do our best to keep your content safe, but we recommend keeping your own copy of anything important. Content created without signing in is stored only in your browser and disappears if you clear your browser data.

6. What you must not do

  • Use another person’s account or information without permission
  • Send an abnormally large number of requests by automated means, or disrupt the Service
  • Bypass the Service’s security measures or try to access areas you are not allowed to
  • Copy or redistribute information obtained through the Service in bulk without permission from the operator or the original provider
  • Anything else that breaks the law

If we find such activity, the operator may restrict that user’s access or delete the account without prior notice.

7. Information from third parties

Weather, stock indices and exchange rates, news, trending searches, box office rankings, music charts, earthquake data and similar information come from public sources run by third parties. This information may be delayed, wrong or unavailable, and the operator does not guarantee its accuracy or completeness.

In particular, stock and exchange rate information is for reference only and is not investment advice. Any investment decision based on it, and its outcome, is your own responsibility. Numbers from the lotto widget are drawn at random and have nothing to do with winning.

Rights to linked external content such as news articles, music and videos (YouTube) belong to their providers, and your use of that content is governed by the providers’ terms.

8. Changes to and suspension of the Service

The operator may change or remove widgets and features to improve the Service. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or replacement of equipment, issues with third-party providers, natural disasters and the like.

If the whole Service is shut down, we will announce it on the Service at least 30 days before it ends and let you view your saved content during that period.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided free of charge and “as is”. Unless caused by intent or gross negligence, the operator is not liable for damages arising from using or being unable to use the Service.

This section does not apply where the law does not allow the operator’s liability to be limited.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises from using the Service, please contact us first at the address below. If it cannot be settled amicably, it will be brought before the competent court under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
