I built it for myself, and I'm opening it up in case it's useful to someone else too.

Everything you check daily, sorted into four light tabs: Work, Web, Personal and Games.

Shimdesk turns the things you use every day into widgets and sorts them into four tabs. Work when you're getting things done, Web when you want to know what's going on, Personal when it's time for you, Games for a short break - just open the one you need. Skip the busy, ad-filled portals: see what you came for, then get back to your day.

  • Work

    Keep your schedule and tasks in one place with to-dos, calendar, notes and a Gantt chart.

  • Web

    Check the weather, markets, news and trending searches at a glance, no portal needed.

  • Personal

    Take a moment for yourself each day with habits, resolutions, a bucket list, D-days and a daily quote.

  • Games

    Unwind for a few subway stops with the daily art puzzle, sudoku, water sort and parking escape, or an arcade plane shooter and a falling-block game.

Tools like the calculator, currency converter and dictionary sit in the dock at the bottom, on every tab.

Light, with no ads

No wading through ads and endless content like on a portal. See what you came for and close it.

Arranged your way

Use Edit to reorder cards, move them to another tab and hide the ones you don't use. Sign in with Google and your layout, notes and bookmarks are saved to your account, so they follow you to any device.

Like an app, anywhere

The layout adapts to phones, tablets and PCs, with dark mode too. Add it to your home screen and it launches like an app.
